Find it impossible to get to sleep at night? There’s a TikTok hack for that.
According to The Sleep Charity, it should take around 10 to 20 minutes to get to sleep once your head hits the pillow.
But if you’re the type of person who spends upwards of 45 minutes tossing, turning and overthinking until your tummy starts rumbling again, you might be relieved to hear there’s a trick for falling to sleep in two minutes.
According to TikTok creator Justin Agustin, there’s a technique that was developed in the military to help soldiers – specifically fighter pilots – fall asleep ‘at any time, any place, even on the battlefield’.
Agustin shared the ‘mind-blowing’ technique in a two-minute-long video, claiming that it works for ‘96% of people who master it’.

Well, first, says Agustin, ‘you need to calm your body and systematically relax and shut down each part of your body from head to toe, literally.’
Relax each part of your body one at a time, starting with your forehead, then your eyes, cheeks, and jaw, all while focusing on your breathing.
Then move to your neck and shoulders, making sure to relax your shoulders and keep your arms, hands and fingers loose at your sides.
Agustin continues: ‘Imagine this warm sensation going from your head all the way down to your fingertips.
‘Take a deep breath and slowly exhale, relaxing your chest, your stomach, down to your thighs, knees, legs and feet.’
Remember to keep imagining the warm feeling, from your heart to your toes.
Next, you need to clear your mind of any stress.
To do this, explains Agustin, you need to think of two scenarios:
‘One – you’re lying in a canoe on a calm lake with nothing but a clear blue sky above you.
‘Two – you’re lying in a black velvet hammock in a pitch black room.’
If you notice that your thoughts keep popping up and you find yourself feeling distracted, repeat the words ‘don’t think,’ over and over for 10 seconds.
And that’s it.
According to Agustin, you need to practice the technique every night for six weeks to truly get the hang of it.
