Another study of overweight women found those who increased their water intake to over 1 litre per lost weight.
Over the course of a year they lose an extra 2kg (4.4lbs) of weight, and didn’t make any other lifestyle changes.
The website also references several other studies where overweight people drank 1-1.5 litres daily for a few weeks.
Those who took part in the study noticed a significant reduction in weight, body mass index, waist circumference and body fat.

According to Healthline the results were more impressive when drinking cold water, as the body uses extra calories to warm the water up to body temperature.
Drinking water before a meal could also reduce appetite.
In addition, water is calorie-free.
That means if you switch out other beverages with water, you may lose weight.
According to the NHS we should drink six to eight glasses of fluid a day.
The NHS recommends: “If you don’t like the taste of plain water, try sparkling water or add a slice of lemon or lime.
“Or heat the water and infuse a tea bag, some coffee or a slice of lemon.
“You could also add some no-added-sugar squash or fruit juice for flavour.”
